He oranga te hua o te hono

Resilience through connections

Come join us for the

Adventure Therapy Aotearoa Conference 2021
Waiora Scout Camp

Ōtepoti/Dunedin, 14th-16th May

Having had to cancel our 2020 event, we’re thrilled to once again be hosting our famously friendly annual gathering in 2021.

This year our theme is He oranga te hua o te hono – wellness is the fruit of connecting. Our plan is that this gathering will connect us with each other, with nature, with culture, with diverse ways of working and with the ideas we need to strengthen and reinvigorate us in our mahi.

We’d love you to join us!

Who is this for?

People utilising activities in the outdoor environment with therapeutic intent. Our community of practice is broad – here is a chance to learn, to share knowledge, to network, to experience and to explore.

What’s on the agenda?

We’ve got some great keynote speakers lined up – more information coming soon!  We’re also requesting expressions of interest for the widest possible range of presentations and workshops.  Don’t be shy – we’re a friendly and supportive bunch and would love to hear about your work – challenges, learnings, opportunities – or whatever you like! There are a variety of options available from ’10 slides in 10 minutes’ to 3.5hr adventure-based sessions. If you’re tempted but want a little more information, feel free to drop us a line and we can help you shape something.

Who might be there?

Occupational therapists, social workers, outdoor specialists psychologists, nature-based therapists, teachers, eco-therapists, counsellors…and others!

How much does it cost to attend?

Registrations before 15th April 2021

What other details do I need to know?

We’ll begin at 5pm on Friday 14th May, and will finish by 1pm on Sunday 16th. It’s taking place at beautiful Waiora Scout Camp just outside Ōtepoti/Dunedin. The price includes all meals and dorm accommodation, or you can bring your own tent if you prefer.
